Real-life experience and mass screening Project in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil

This presentation highlights the impact of the "Estação do Olho initiative", a mass eye screening program aimed at improving access to eye care for underserved populations in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. At the heart of this project is an innovative approach that leverages cutting-edge technologies to conduct rapid, non-invasive screenings. Central to the success of this operation is the use of the Visionix VX 650, a device that provides comprehensive results in under ten minutes, enabling even minimally trained operators to effectively screen up to 30 patients a day.

The program has had a significant impact, with over 76% of patients presenting abnormal findings, demonstrating the initiative's effectiveness in early detection and prevention of vision loss on a large scale. The ability to provide accurate results while enhancing patient comfort is a key factor in the program's success. However, challenges remain, including increasing program awareness, ensuring follow-up care, and improving technological literacy. These are being addressed through strategic outreach efforts, AI integration, and partnerships aimed at streamlining operations.

Estação do Olho is showcasing how innovation and technology can transform the prevention of eye diseases in vulnerable communities.
